A Path To Citizenship: The AFL-CIO’s Agenda for Comprehensive Immigration Reform
Since 2000 the U.S. labor movement has been a leader in the fight to achieve a path to citizenship for the country’s estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants. In this hour-long workshop participants will hear about and discuss:
· The four major waves of international immigration that have shaped U.S. economic and labor history.
· Our current broken system of immigration that rewards abusive employers and punishes working families.
· The labor movement’s framework for reform to achieve a smart and compassionate new immigration policy.
Presenter/Facilitator: Guillermo Perez, Co-Chair of the Local 3657 Civil Rights Committee and National Executive Board Member of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA).
