Local 3657’s Women of Steel Committee in Pittsburgh held a teach-in on March 7 not only in honor of Women’s History month but also due to the many ongoing challenges women face in the workplace and in the union as well as the trials many of us will come to face with the new administration in Washington, D.C.
Union sisters spoke about issues such as workplace violence, immigration, and family and medical leave and noted that although they affect women at a higher rate than men, they must be viewed as worker and labor issues.
Participants filled the room, signifying a desire for more of these conversations, and we hope to keep this work and momentum going! Shout out to all of you sisters, and brothers, out there fighting the good fight.
